Most of the Butterfly/Bowmar Sports team arrived in San Juan on Monday night. The US-based and Puerto Rico-based crews worked together Monday morning to unload tables and barriers from trucks. An assembly line of volunteers put barriers together and placed them around the venue. The tables were carefully unpacked (generally four guys moving each table half). Flooring was rolled out and taped. A crew worked to replace light bulbs (changing the two soft lights on each fixture into three strong bulbs more suitable for our event).
And as the rows of tables began to emerge, tables and seating were placed to surround the venue – making room for fans and television cameras and registration and VIP rooms and everything else you would expect to find and a first-class international event.
After two days of hard work – the only thing missing here is you. Players arrive on Thursday. The captain’s meeting and practice session is Thursday afternoon. The event begins early Friday and will culminate in Finals on Sunday afternoon.
If you weren’t able to make the trip this year – you can keep up with the action at ButterflyOnline.com.
