Liang Jingkun Wins in Taiyuan

(by Steve Hopkins, photo WTT)

World No. 2 (and top seed) Wang Chuqin fell in the opening round to World No. 43 Xu Yingbin.  Xu then fell in the Round of 16 to Japan’s Shunsuke Togami.  Togami had a great tournament, topping An Jaehyun in the opening round, Xu in the Round of 16, then Cho Daeseong in the Quarters and Lin Shidong in the Semifinals.  However, Togami’s run ended in the Final against Liang Jingkun.  For Jingkun’s part, he entered the event as the second seed, and had two tough matches in a row (a 3-2 win over Xiang Peng and a 3-1 win over Lin Gaoyuan) to reach the Final.  Togami won the first two games of the Final, but Liang won the next two, and then closed out the match 4-3.  Liang Jingkun wins in Taiyuan.

The Women’s Singles event was more predictable.  The top two seeds, Wang Manyu and Wang Yidi reached the Final.  And top-seeded Wang Manyu won 4-1. Men’s Doubles went to Lin Shidong and Lin Gaoyuan.  Women’s Doubles went to Qian Tianyi and Chen Xingtong.  Mixed Doubles went to Lin Shidong and Kuai Man.

The next Tour Event is a WTT Feeder Series event in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal in about 10 days.
