Angel’s Cup Butterfly Team Tournament Results

Angel’s Cup Butterfly Team Tournament Results
(By Steve Hopkins)

The annual Angel’s Cup Butterfly Team Tournament was held November 23-24 at California Table Tennis in Rosemead, California.  The format of the tournament was three-person teams with two divisions based upon rating.  Both divisions had a $1000 prize for the first place team, a $500 prize for the second place team, and $300 per team for third and fourth place.  There was $4200 in combined prize money plus over $3,000 in raffle gifts and free food.  Teams played in a preliminary round robin and then advanced to single elimination rounds (the top teams advanced to a championship elimination round and the bottom teams to a consolation elimination round).

Over 100 players and 38 teams took part (including 18 teams in Division A and 20 teams in Division B).  The tournament sponsors were Wish of Angel’s Missions, Ying Enterprises, US WINE Org, and Butterfly.

The winners of Division A didn’t have to travel far to compete — California Table Tennis was the top finishing team.  Team tri-AN-gle from Irvine finished second.  The third place finishers were ASLT 1 from learning tree, San Diego, and Team Musketeer from Irvine.  Division A Consolations were Pen Holder (from Rosemead) in first, and ASLT (from San Diego) in second.
