The Academy – 2016

Season’s Greetings to our fellow table tennis enthusiasts!  We are very excited to welcome you all to our new table tennis training center boasting twenty foot plus high ceilings in the heart of Manhattan. You will experience a spacious playing area, a newly refinished hardwood gym floor, excellent lighting and five brand new Butterfly tables.

Highlights
Since our grand opening in September, we now have about twenty monthly members who are an active part of our growing community.  We are a diverse mix mostly coming from the local east side neighborhood made up of professionals, students and retirees.  Our walk in player/guests are steadily increasing.

We want to congratulate our very own Jean Touton for being our most improved club player.  Jean has played in just three USATT sanctioned tournaments and in his first tournament he won the U800 event in Westchester and the following month won the U1300 event.  And he finished in the quarterfinals in U1650 at the FIT Tournament in November.  We know we will see more exciting results from Jean as he develops his game.

We are researching the viability of launching a private/public school table tennis league and hope to have more information to share in 2017.

Wednesday Night Tournament
Join us for a fun and competitive Wednesday Night Tournament where the winner gets to take home Butterfly swag.

Future Programs
We believe that table tennis can be valuable therapy to support the work of several important causes.  That is why we are in the process of establishing relationships and programs with organizations in these areas:
Table Tennis for Veterans
Table Tennis for Alzheimer’s (early stage)
Table Tennis for Parkinsons (early stage)
Table Tennis for Diabetes Mellitus (early stage)
We Need Your Help and Suggestions

The Academy operates as a 501c3 non-profit organization that solely relies on charitable donations and membership dues of $60/month and $10 for a day pass.  Every year we need to raise $50,000 to keep our table tennis center open and relying on membership income alone will be a big challenge.

If you have any suggestions to improve our club please contact Jon Ebuen: jonebuen@TheTableTennisAcademy.org

If you like and love playing in our center and you have a few dollars to donate please help us and we promise that your gift will go to something good.
