Butterfly Ask The Experts No. 428 Equipment Suggestion

Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Answer:

Hi Thomas,

Thank you for your question.

Since you classified yourself as a hitter and are looking for more speed on your forehand attack, I recommend the Viscaria Super ALC. This is a very stiff blade and has lots of speed which is great for hitters. Keep in mind as stiffness and speed increases, feeling and control will decrease to some extent. If you want to revolve your game more around hitting this is the blade for you. If you want to revolve your game around blocking, then I would suggest the Revoldia CNF which is less stiff and has more feeling, which gives you more control.

For rubber, I recommend Dignics 09C as this is a harder rubber and is great for hitting. For your backhand rubber, I recommend Dignics 05 which is a softer rubber and will give you more control when blocking.

Best,
Di

Question:

Allow me to share some critical information before my question. I have a minor disability, so I play either on top or close to the table (2m). I usually play first strike tennis or block on the backhand and would describe myself as a hitter.

I used to have a Tibhar Speedy Soft D.TecS (BH) and a Rakza 7 Soft (FH). Then I moved to Stiga Calibra Tour S (BH) and Rakza X soft (FH). I have a Butterfly Kreanga PowerKev Carbon blade, which, as I understand from my limited knowledge, is not suitable for what I said above (but it was a gift at a BF training camp from the legend himself, so…).

After 5 years of playing, I want something faster for quick attacks and blocking on the (BH) and an even faster attacking (FH) rubber. I think, though, I need a different blade made for this style (maybe a stiff, stable one).

Any suggestions?

Kind reards
Thomas
