Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

Hi,
I am an intermediate player looking to buy a new table tennis bat and believe it would be a good idea to have one made, rather than purchase a premade bat as I find that I am unable to get as much spin and control as I would like. I am unsure what blade and rubbers to get and what sponge thickness is correct for me. I would say I am an attacking player, and I need a bat to generate lots of spin. My backhand is more defensive than forehand and I often play slice as opposed to backhand smash. Advice on what would be good for me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

This Ask the Experts question was answered by Min Kim. She is the coach at MK Georgia Table Tennis in Duluth, Georgia. Coach Kim’s response is below:

Hi Alex,

I would recommend you try the Viscaria or Timo Boll ALC withTenergy 05 on your forehand and Tenergy 80 on your backhand.

The tremendous speed of the racket and spin of Tenergy 05 will make your attacks more powerful and spinny. Also, Tenergy 80 on the backhand will make defensive play more stable.

Best regards,

Min Kim
