Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Blade: Yinhe T-1
Forehand: Sriver FX
Backhand: Tenergy 25 FX

Question: I have been told I probably need a new blade/rubber combination. I recently started playing TT seriously and received a rating of 700 in my first tournament this year. I am 52 years old, I take lessons once a week and practice 3x a week. I would like to progress as fast as I can and participate in tournaments going forward. My question is: what type of blade and rubber would you recommend for me? Someone told me Tenergy 05 FX would be better for me than the 25 FX I currently have on one side. I was also told that I should probably get a non-carbon blade so I have more control. My coach tells me I have a fast hand/reaction and quick on my feet, but sometimes I feel I cannot control the ball well especially if it has a lot of spin on it. It may be just because of my technique and lack of experience but I wonder if it’s also my racket. I am thinking of buying another blade/rubber combo. Any suggestions?

Answer:

Coach Jack Huang, Ask The ExpertsHello Linda,

For your style, I recommend the following:

Blade: Mizutani Jun

Forehand: 05 Tenergy 2.1

Backhand: 64 Tenergy 2.1

Let me know if you have questions.

Best wishes,
