Update of 29th Summer Universiade – Taipei
US are still in three events – Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles, and Women’s Doubles in the competition.

Women’s Doubles: Erika Wu and Angela Guan lost to PRK opponent in the round of 32.

Unfortunately, Lily Zhang and Wu Yue had to withdraw from the event due to Lily’s foot injury occurred during practice a few years ago. It wasn’t serious in the beginning but it got worse gradually. That explained why she only played the third position in the Women’s Team event that US lost a heartbreaking round of 16 match 2-3 to Romania. Unfortunately, it did not get better. Lily had to wear a boot now and withdraw from the competition. Hope she get better soon. The bright side is that the foods at the players village are pretty good. One US Team member on the left of the photo seemed to enjoy a lot.:-)

Men’s Doubles: Billy Ding and Jason Plog lost to Japan 0-3 in round of 32. The concluded the event for US.

Women’s Singles: Lily Zhang and Wu Yu are seeded into the round of 64. Erika Wu and Angela Guan were undefeated in the preliminary round. No games were scheduled on 8/27. The event will resume on 8/28.
