In their opening match, Saarbrucken big two dominated with Franziska logging two wins and Jorgic securing the other win for an easy 3-1 victory. But the second match, Ochsenhausen flipped the script. On Friday, Simon Gauzy started things off well for Ochsenhausen with a 3-0 win over Darko Jorgic. Franziska then evened the match score with a 3-2 win over Alvaro Robles. Ochsenhausen’s Sam Kulczycki defeated Tomas Polansky to put Ochsenhausen up again.
Gauzy and Franziska fought to a stand-still, but when Franziska pulled ahead and closed out the fifth game, all was even going into the doubles. Darko Jorgic and Cedric Nuytinck started strong in the doubles, winning each of the first two games easily. However, the final three games all went to Ochsenhausen’s pair of Akkuzu and Robles. Thanks to doubles – Ochsenhausen wins 3-2 and forces a third tie-breaking match. The winner will face Dusseldorf in the Final.
