🎥 Episode 6: Ask The Expert Live With Logan Rietz | How do you select the right equipment?

Posted on

(by Bowmar Sports)

Choosing the right table tennis equipment can feel overwhelming especially when you’re just starting out. With so many blades, rubbers, and combinations available, it’s easy to get lost in the options.

Let’s start with a common scenario. You’ve been using a pre-assembled paddle with something like Flextra rubber easy to control and great for learning. But now you’re improving and asking: what’s next?

In our latest Instagram Live, Logan our Butterfly equipment expert explains how to choose the right setup based on what really matters.

  • Start with the Right Questions
  • Before upgrading, focus on understanding your game:
  • What is my playing style?
  • What is my level?
  • What did I like or dislike about my current setup?
  • What is my budget?

The best equipment isn’t the most expensive, it’s the one that fits YOU.

Building the Right Foundation
For beginners, control comes first. Slower, more balanced setups help build consistency and confidence. A great example is a Korbel blade with Sriver rubbers, offering:

  • Good feel
  • Balanced speed and spin
  • Easy control
  • Stepping Up Your Game

As you improve, your needs change. If you’ve been using a Viscaria with Tenergy 05, but want more control and feel, consider:

Innerforce blades (CNF / Harimoto Super ALC)
Outerforce ALC for a more controlled trajectory

Sometimes, changing the blade not the rubber makes the biggest difference.

Performance, Budget & Feel

Not every player needs a premium setup. There are excellent options that balance performance and cost. There’s no one perfect setup only the one that works best for YOU.
