Americans Shine at Junior Pan Am Games

The 2025 Junior Pan American Games wrapped up last week in Asunción, Paraguay, with solid results from TeamUSA as they competed against young stars from across this hemisphere. Team USA delivered standout performances, claiming medals in multiple individual and team events.

The Boys’ Singles title went to USA’s Nandan Naresh with a 4-2 victory over Brazil’s Leonardo Iizuka.  The semifinalists were Puerto Rico’s Steven Moreno who fell to Naresh and Dominican Republic’s Ramon Vila who fell to Iizuka.  The Girls’ Singles title went to Puerto Rico’s Edmarie Leon with a 4-0 win over Natalie Chan of Canada.  The semifinalists were Canada’s Jessie Xu and Columbia’s Ana Isaza.

In Boys’ Doubles Brazil’s Iizuka and Doti defeated the US team of Nandan Naresh and Victor Xie.  The semifinalists were the Canadian squad of Ly and Jutras and the Ecuadorian team of Revelo and Robayo.  The Girls’ Doubles title went to Brazil’s Medonica and Senaga over Puerto Rico’s Edmarie Leon and Kristal Melendez.  Bronze went to the US team of Tashiya Piyadasa and Satya Aspathi and to the Canadian team of Jessie Xu and Natalie Chan.

TeamUSA won the Girls Team event with a 3-1 win over Brazil with Puerto Rico and Colombia finishing third.  The Boys Team event finished with Brazil first, Puerto Rico second, and TeamUSA and Venezuela in third.

TeamUSA, Team Puerto Rico, and Team Brazil all had strong showings in Asunción.  Lots of great talent beginning to show in this hemisphere ready to follow standouts like Hugo Calderano, Kanak Jha, Adriana Diaz, Bruna Takahashi, and Lily Zhang.  Another opportunity for young players to shine is the Pan American Youth Championships that are just underway in Rosario, Argentina.
