Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Blade: Chinese Real
Forehand: Flarestorm II or Speedy P.O.

Question: I am all around player with a DHS PF4 blade and a pips-out rubber Friendship 799. I want to get a new blade and rubber, but I don’t know which rubber to get.
I want to get a Chinese Real blade with either a Flarestorm II or a Speedy PO. Also I want to know which thickness to get a 1.9 or a 2.1.
Other question: Do the Flarestorm or the Speedy come with sponge?
Thanks

Coach Hui Wang, Ask The ExpertsAnswer: Hi Nick,

Some very good questions.

First off the difference between the 1.9 and the 2.1 rubber is the amount of wood you want to feel when you contact the ball. Both the Flarestorm II rubber and the Speedy P.O. rubber come with the sponge already attached.

For pimple rubber, I would suggest 1.9 for faster and more devastating smashes. I would recommend the Flarestorm II rubber with an Shamada blade.

Good luck!
