WAB CLUB FEATURE: San Antonio Table Tennis Club

(by Steve Hopkins)

The San Antonio Table Tennis Club is located in the Fitness Building of the Alamo Gymnastics and Fitness Center on Huebner Road just off the E Charles William Anderson Loop about 15 miles North of the San Antonio city center.  The club has two rooms; the main room, Room A, has five tables and Room B has three tables that are generally used for training or beginner play.

Club activities include a Ladder for competitive play among beginners, a monthly beginner’s tournament, and a free monthly coaching session.  The club features four USATT certified coaches, with coaching options available daily. Club coaches include Vlad Farcas, Carolina Gonzalez, and Edmund Lo.  There is an open house on the last Friday of each month which includes free training from 7-8pm.   The club is open Monday – Friday from 2p-10p and Saturday from 1p-7p.

The SATTC is a diverse group.  Members include males and females, ages 10-90, a dozen nationalities, students, retirees, and everything between.  Whether you are playing for recreation or seriously pursuing table tennis as an Olympic sport, this club in San Antonio has options for you.

Like most other businesses, the San Antonio Table Tennis Club is temporarily closed.  They have set up a Covid-19 Relief Fund through gofundme.  Details are available at satabletennis.org
