PINGPOD: Table Tennis on Demand

WAB CLUB FEATURE: PingPod

PingPod is billed as the Future of Ping Pong – autonomous table tennis pods in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.  Players use an app to view times and book tables (or to buy drinks or snacks or save videos of your practice sessions).

PingPod was born as a pop up on Canal St. When the team saw the joy that a ping pong table in a garage brought to so many people, they knew they needed to find a way to make table tennis more accessible to many more people in NYC and beyond. Doors were opened to the first location on Allen Street in 2020.  PingPod – autonomous table tennis pods.

There are two locations in Manhattan, and new facilities on the way in Queens and Brooklyn.  The facilities feature custom tables, walls of glass which allow those outside to watch, lockers, and refreshments.  The concept is to provide playing areas in high traffic, easily accessible locations that operate autonomously.  You sign up to play through an app, that same app opens the door when you arrive .

PingPod also offers activities, so if you are looking for other players you can join their community.  They offer a handicap league, and numerous coaching options.  Their coaching staff currently includes a long list of National and Club coaches.  Some of the bigger names include:  Dora Kurimay, Tom Feng, Tahl Leibovitz, and Matilda Ekholm.  Check out their website to see all of the options available today.

Its high tech.  It’s fun.  And it’s a new take on a table tennis facility that brings the tables to where the consumers work and live.  Check out one of their seven locations.

Demo the Butterfly Amicus Prime RobotPingPod is also an Amicus Demo Center – a location with a Butterfly Amicus Prime Robot where players can visit to demo one of the best robots on the market.
