US Team Reflect on Cartagena – 5 Medals – Wealth of Experience
A long week of competition at the 2017 ITTF Pan American Table Tennis Championships drew to a close and there were more highlights and successes as well as learning experiences and tough losses for Team USA. The 7 day long event in Cartagena, Colombia would be the stepping stone in qualifications for the 2018 World Team Championships and 2018 World Team Cup, now in the Pan American format with more difficult competition than previous years as separate North American and Latin American Championship events.

The competition kicked off with the team events and both teams did well to clench medal positions. The Women’s Team of Wu Yue, Crystal Wang, Grace Yang and Rachel Yang  reached the final of the Women’s Team event after a strong semifinal performance against Puerto Rico – Wu Yue played well to defeat 2016 US Open champion Adriana Diaz to seal the tie for USA.
