Triangle Sends a Big Shout Out to USATT!
|
|
|
Last weekend, USATT not only brought the 2016 Women’s World Cup to the United States, but they also sponsored awesome coverage of the event on ESPN! Our hats are off to Gordon Kaye and the USATT team who led the successful effort — and we especially appreciate their support for high profile television coverage of women athletes! As one study from USC and Purdue demonstrated, TV sports coverage typically remains dominated by male athletes. So, we are particularly proud that the sport of table tennis is leading the charge in the direction of equality! Go USATT! |

October 21-23, 2016: Triangle 2016 Southeastern Open Tournament is coming up in a week!
With a USATT 4-star sanction level and over $4,000 in cash and prizes, and a Giant Round Robin main event, the Southeastern Open Tournament is very similar to the perennially popular Butterfly Cary Cup Championship we run in the spring season. The Giant Round Robin main event will start on Saturday and end on Sunday, and we’re also offering other rating events on Friday and Sunday afternoon, as well as a Hardbat event in which challengers can take on local coach and national Hardbat Champion, AJ Carney. Some of you may remember that the Saturday Giant Round Robin event in our 2016 Butterfly Cary Cup Championship sold out last spring, so sign up soon! More details are available on the enrollment form, and online registration is available now — but will close on October 20th (and some events may fill up earlier)! |

November 19 & 20, 2016: 2016 Triangle November Open Tournament
The November Open is a 2-Star USATT sanctioned tournament with over $1,300 in cash and prizes. Along with Singles round robin events for different rating levels, we’re including two Doubles round robin events — one for teams rated under 2800 and one for teams rated under 3600. Each doubles event has individual ratings caps as well, to keep the matches competitive, and more details are available on the enrollment form. Come work off your Thanksgiving Feast in advance! Who knows, perhaps you’ll be giving thanks for some new rating points! |

December 6, 2016: 2016 Triangle December Open Tournament
The December Open is a 1-day, 2-Star USATT sanctioned tournament with over $750 in cash and prizes. It has 5 traditional Singles round robin events for different rating levels, and, for the first time ever, we’re trying a crazy Fun Size Table event. (We had so much fun with this little table at the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival we just weren’t ready to put it away.) Sure, you can keep the ball on MOST tables, but can you keep it on a Fun Size Table? Come show us in this fun and unrated event! More details are available on theenrollment form. This tournament is the last call for 2016 tournament play at Triangle Table Tennis before many of you head off to Las Vegas for the US Open, so let’s make it FUN! |

Fall Leagues and Training Programs
|
|
Our fall program schedule is proving very popular, but there’s still time to get in on much of the action!
The Cadet Development Program is for high potential students who commit to frequent training to more rapidly build their skills. Admission is by invitation to qualified young players at the Advanced Beginner or Intermediate level (or coach approval), and group size is limited to maintain a 1:8 coaching ratio. Enrollment is available in pre-paid one-month blocks consisting of either 4 or 5 group lessons per week, with or without an additional private lesson per week at an additional charge. If you are interested in our Cadet Development Program, please contact one of our managers for more information.
Multiple Fall League seasons are already underway, and some additional Leagues are starting soon:
- Division 3 League (for ratings 1000 – 1499): is attracting so many players on Tuesday nights that we will split it into 2 nights — Monday & Tuesday — when the next sessions begin during the first week of December.
- Division 2 League (for ratings 1500 – 1899): is having a strong season, but still has room for more players on some nights.
- Division 1 League (for ratings over 1900): changed to a 2 man team format, using a handicap rating point system, and a “floating” schedule allowing team captains to work together to mutually agree on a time to conduct assigned matches. We still have room left in this league, so advanced players are encouraged to come out and try the new format!
- Youth League has expanded! We now have two sessions: 9:30 AM on Saturdays and 10:30 AM on Sundays. Both began new 12-week sessions in October, and both include group instruction time before match play.
- Middle School League and High School League seasons officially start up at the end of October, and we’re registering schools now, so if you would like your child’s middle or high school to participate, please consider organizing a team, or help us make a connection with the Athletic Director.
Finally, we’ve expanded private group lessons for local groups who are interested in pre-paid 12-lesson blocks dedicated to serve their members at volume-discounted prices. We’re now serving 8 of these groups at different times during the week, and if you have a group that might be interested, please contact us for more information. We’d be delighted to set up a special arrangement for your group! |
