Jessie Xu – Valuable Learning Experience at Junior Pan Am Games

Posted on

(by Bowmar Sports)

Jessie Xu recently returned from representing Canada at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, Paraguay.  This multi-sport event, which welcomed over 4,000 athletes from 41 nations, featured a highly competitive table tennis tournament. While the Games included delegations from across the Americas, the table tennis event saw participation from the continent’s top paddling nations, making for a strong and challenging field.

Jessie embraced this challenge, competing in four events: Girls’ Singles, Girls’ Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and the Girls’ Team event. She earned bronze medals in the Singles and Doubles events, results she credits to the strong support from her teammates and coaches.

For Jessie, the Games were a profound learning experience. This was her second time competing at this level, following her first appearance at the Pan Am Games in Santiago, Chile in 2023 at the age of 15.  Since that time, she has focused on growing as both an athlete and a person. She continues to value these opportunities to learn from every match, especially those that challenge her to adapt.

“It has been such an honor to represent Team Canada,” Jessie shared. “I learned to adjust my mindset and adapt to conditions better after my semifinals. These lessons will help me for future events, and I’m so grateful for this opportunity.”

This growth mindset defines Jessie’s approach. Her commitment is further shown by her immediate return to competition, representing Canada for an impressive sixth consecutive time at the upcoming ITTF Pan American Youth Championships in Rosario, Argentina starting from August 24 and runs through August 31, 2025—a testament to her steady dedication since first making the U15 team at the age of 13.

The Butterfly family is proud to support athletes like Jessie, who embody sportsmanship, continuous improvement, and the quiet confidence that comes from hard work. The entire Butterfly community wishes her and Team Canada the best in Argentina.
