(By : Vlad Farcas)

In the world of Paralympic table tennis, one name has been making waves with his exceptional talent and determination – Jenson Van Emburgh.

VANEMBURGH, Jenson

Hailing from the United States, Jenson achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the bronze medal in Class 3 at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. However, his journey is far from over, and he’s now setting his sights on even greater achievements. As we fast forward to the present, Jenson Van Emburgh is in full throttle preparation mode for the 2023 Para French Open, a prestigious tournament set to take place in Saint Quentin-en-Yvelines from November 9th to 12th. This event marks a crucial stepping stone on his path to Paralympic glory.

Currently ranked as the number 4 player in the world, Jenson finds himself amidst an incredibly competitive field where every point, every match, and every victory counts. His dedication and hard work are not solely aimed at securing victory in Paris but also at securing his spot in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, France. To do that, Jenson Van Emburgh has set his sights on a double-header of tournaments. Following the Para French Open, he will swiftly fly across the globe to Santiago, Chile, for the 2023 ParaPan American Games. This event holds immense significance for Jenson, as he aims to capture his first continental title, a goal that narrowly eluded him during the 2019 finals in Lima.

The road to the Paralympics is never easy, and Jenson is well aware of the challenges that lie ahead. Winning gold in Santiago would guarantee his place in the prestigious Paralympic event. However, he also has another avenue open to him – the world ranking. Jenson’s strategy is clear: he’s focusing on boosting his world ranking as much as possible. A higher world ranking will not only bolster his confidence but also improve his seeding at the Paralympics. A favorable seeding can make all the difference in a competition where the finest margins separate victory from defeat.

As Jenson Van Emburgh prepares both mentally and physically for these upcoming challenges, he takes a moment to express his gratitude. He acknowledges the unwavering support of his family, who have stood by him through every twist and turn of his remarkable journey. Their encouragement and belief in his abilities have been instrumental in his success. Additionally, Jenson extends his gratitude to three key pillars of his journey – the San Antonio Table Tennis Club, Bowmar Sports and USA Table Tennis. These organizations have provided him with the necessary infrastructure, coaching, equipment and resources to reach the pinnacle of his sport. Their unwavering support has been invaluable in his quest for excellence.

In the coming months, the world will be watching as Jenson Van Emburgh, facing off against some of the world’s finest Para table tennis players. The dream of Paralympic Gold in 2024 is well within his grasp, and with his talent, determination, and the support of his loved ones and the table tennis community, there’s no doubt that Jenson will continue to inspire and leave his mark on the sport for years to come. As he battles for glory in the 2023 Para French Open and the ParaPan American Games, we’ll be eagerly cheering him on every step of the way.
