Brian Afanador advanced to quarter-finals of the Stockholm Open Brian Afanador advanced to the quarter-finals of the Stockholm Open on Sunday after strong wins over top-ranked opponents in the U-21 category of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) tournament.
Afanador, number 42 in the world for that category, defeated Tom Jarvis to advance to the main key of the event.
Then, in the beginning of the main draw, the Puerto Rican player beat the Korean player Minhyeok Kim, 3-2 and, in the round of 16, came from behind t to overcome the Singaporean player , Clarence Chew also 3-2.
In an interview from Sweden to to EL VOCERO he stated “I understand that I played very well. I am in a very good physical and technical condition. Those two last players that I beat are above me in the rankings. Personally I feel super good because I saw them as superiors”.
Afanador will face Chinese Taipei native Chia-Hung Sun on Friday for a ticket to the semifinal. “I go with the expectations to fight and give the best of me,” he finished.
