Kef Noorani, a 12-year-old table tennis player from the Bay Area, won three gold medals at the US Nationals Table Tennis Championship in Fort Worth, Texas. He is ranked number one in the nation in his age group, and won U13 Singles, U13 Boys’ Doubles, and U13 Mixed Doubles events.
In the Singles event, Kef defeated his opponent, Kyler Chen, in a close match that went to five sets. In the Boys’ Doubles event, Kef teamed up with his partner, Max Mouchinski, to defeat Jaden Jia and Jaden Cai. In the Mixed Doubles event, Kef teamed up with Abigail Yu, to defeat the team of Sophia Chen and Shrirang Krishnaprasad.
In an interview after the tournament, Kef said that he was “very happy” with his performance. He said he “trained really hard” for the tournament and was “excited to win three gold medals”. He also said that he was “looking forward to continuing to compete and improve.”
Kef will be participating in the U15 Pan American Championships and WTT Youth Contender in Charleston, West Virginia at the end of July.
