Rhode Island Table Tennis has operated two of the oldest weekly leagues in America – running continuously since the 1950s.  Historically, these were closed leagues for members only.  Participants would need to win the “B” Novice League to be allowed to compete in the “A” Masters League.  These days, the leagues rely upon ratings (USATT or comparable ranking and rating systems).  The leagues have regular attendees from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut (as the RITTA club is approximately 50 miles from Boston MA and about 50 miles from Storrs CT).

The format of the competitive leagues remains mostly the same – though these days players participate based upon skill level.  ALL PLAYERS ARE WELCOME – MEMBERS AND NON MEMBERS.  There is no requirement that you come every week (and ONE TIME VISITORS ARE COMMON).  League winners are based upon win/loss record over the full season.  Here is the detailed information.

Time: “A” League is for players over 1400 – that league runs every Monday night beginning at 7:15pm.  The “B” League is for all play levels – that league runs every Tuesday night beginning at 7:15pm.  *Check the website for holiday schedules as we do close during major holidays.

Level: “A” League is open to players over 1400 (USATT Rating)   |    “B” League is open to all players.

Sign-Up: If you plan to play, you must sign in by 7:15.  If you are running late, you may call the club (401-769-6666) to sign in between 6:45 and 7:15 – but you must be present and ready to play by 7:45.

Format: Players are placed in round-robins based upon rating initially (usually 6-8). The two top finishers of a round robin move “up” the following week, and the two bottom finishers more “down”.  This ensures that the groups change from week to week.

Fee:  $8 per person.
