2016 Butterfly Teams: LYTTC Teams Claim Top Spots in Division 1
“LYTTC Elite” continued their dominance in Division 1 on the final day of competition at the 2016 Butterfly Teams tournament by easily overcoming 2nd and 3rd seeded teams “Newgy/Petrosetco” and “SPiN” in straight matches. Having not dropped a match throughout the entire three-day competition, “LYTTC Elite” was a level above the rest. The team of Ruichao Chen, Kaden Xu, Yuxiang Jin, Ziyang Chen and Junha Wu walked away from the weekend with $3000 in prize money and the title of 2016 Butterfly Teams champions.

Surprise second place finishers “LYTTC-New Zealand” (Barry Dattel, Matt Hetherington, Roger Rao, May Tong, Cory Eider) had a strong third day of competition, upsetting both second and third seeds “Newgy/Petrosetco” and “SPiN” in impressive style. Having been beaten by “Solid Forehands” on day one, “LYTTC-New Zealand” brought their A game to the rest of the competition to finish solidly in second place and claim the $2000 prize. Team “SPiN” finished third and “Newgy/Petrosetco” finished fourth – each team received $850 for their impressive play over the long weekend.

Other LYTTC (Lily Yip Table Tennis Center) teams also made the podium in other divisions. “LYTTC Boys 2” claimed 2nd place in Division 4, “LYTTC – New York” took 1st in Division 5 and “LYTTC-Girls U-11” took second in Division 6. With more than 15 teams entered in the 2016 Butterfly Teams championship, LYTTC not only excelled in divisional play but also in participation and growth of competitive table tennis in the northeastern community.
