Triangle Table Tennis: August 2017 News and Happenings
Summer is starting to wind down, but we sure aren’t! We have new leagues starting up and multiple 4-star tournaments on the horizon. Don’t miss all the action!
As always, this newsletter is the only email you’ll receive from us this month, so it has it all — a quick overview of recent news as well as upcoming tournaments and programs, including this weekend’s USATT 4-star sanctioned 2017 Triangle Summer Two-Person Teams Tournament, the rest of our Tournaments through the end of 2017, and Group Lessons.
The 2017 Triangle July Open Tournament was fun for all and saw several players jump over 200 rating points!
We hope all who participated had as much fun as we did! The award for the biggest rating jump this tournament goes to Anav Gupta (shown training hard during a lesson) who vaulted up 356 points and cracked 1000 for the first time. Congratulations Anav! You can check out more of the event photos in our Facebook Photo Album and the list of event winners here.
Practice Partners a Plenty!
New Wristband System now live at Triangle Table Tennis
Last week, we launched our solution to the challenge of finding a practice partner during Open Play. To make it as user-friendly as possible, the wristbands are color-coded by skill level ranges. No need to wonder whether someone would welcome an invitation to play; when you see players wearing their wristband, you know they are ready to roll! That way, if you are looking for someone to hit with, all you have to do is look for someone who’s wearing a wristband that’s the same color as yours. For players who are actively working to improve their rating, it can be viewed as similar to the belt system used in many martial arts. Everybody wants the black wristband!
Members receive a complimentary wristband in the color that matches their skill level (and upgrades when they advance!), and visitors may purchase a wristband of the appropriate color in the Pro Shop. For a list of the rating/color designations, please go to the Open Play section of our website.
