The 84th edition of the Indian National Table Tennis Championships was was held from March 20-27, at the Gymnasium Hall of Jammu University in Jammu, India.

The New Indian Star: Sathiyan Gnanasekaran won the Men’s Singles National Title for the second time in his career. In the 84th edition of the Nationals he defeated Harmeet Desai with a decisive 4-0 victory with scores of (11-9, 11-7, 11-8, 11-5). However, to reach the Final he had a tough Semifinal battle with Manav Thakkar, with a 4-2 victory to Sathiyan with very close scores of (13-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-1, 9-11, 11-5.)

Sathiyan obtained his first National Champion title in 2021, beating the legendary Kamal Achanta.  Achanta was again the 2022 Champion – and is currently an active player with one of the most solid careers in Indian table tennis history.

Bittersweet taste: In the mixed doubles event, Sathiyan and Manika Batra were the top seed but were upset by Ankur Bhattacharjee and Moumita Datta from West Bengal with a score of 3-0 (11-6, 11-0, 11-0).  Sathiyan had to retire at that point due to a shoulder injury.
