Emily Tan Talks about Rubber Differences

Posted on

(by: Emily Tan)

This article will be about the difference between each rubber I played so far, and recommendations I have for individuals who want to change to a different rubber. I’ve played a lot of different butterfly rubbers and each rubber is different in speed and spin. Some butterfly rubbers I have played are Tenergy 05, Tenergy 05 hard, Tenergy 64, Dignics 05, and Dignics 09C.

So let’s start with Tenergy 05, it is a rubber I recommend for a player who likes to play for more topspin and rally because it is relatively softer than other rubbers, so it’s faster. It is a really good rubber to use for smashing and blocking. Tenergy 64 is heavily recommended for players who play more topspin and rally because it’s the softest rubber I have used. As you use it you will notice that it is a really fast rubber. It is softer than the Tenergy 05, so it will also be faster than Tenergy 05. But, you will be able to add more spin using Tenergy 05 and then Tenergy 64.

Four years ago I changed my forehand rubber to Tenergy 05 hard because I want to be able to add more spin to my forehand underspin and topspin loop. Then I tried Dignics 05 and Dignics 09C. My final decision was to change my forehand rubber to Dignics 09C because I wanted to change my forehand from smashing to looping. Dignics 09C is the hardest rubber I’ve used and it is easier to add spin. So I would recommend it to people who don’t smash as much, instead they want a really strong and spinny underspin loop. Dignics 05 is a little softer than Dignics 09C, so it doesn’t provide you with as much spin, but it will be easier to make your smash compared to Dignics 05

This article is about my opinion and how each rubber feels to me, but it might be different for you depending on you playing motion, power, feeling, and style.
