Another Guinness World Record for Mima Ito
Mima Ito will be making yet another appearance in The Guinness Book of World Records when the latest edition is published this month.
Mima Ito is once again a Guinness World Record holder. The 16 year old Japanese table tennis star will be appearing in the next edition of The Book Guinness World Records as the youngest ever table tennis medalist at an Olympic Games.

Ito was just 15 years and 300 days old when she partnered up with partnered up with Ai Fukuhara and Kasumi Ishikawa to win bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in the Women’s Team event.

It will be the fourth time that Mima Ito has entered the record books.

Ito’s first entry in to The Book of Guinness World Records came when she combined with Miu Hirano to be the youngest doubles winners ever on the ITTF World Tour when they won the German Open title in 2014. The total of the two player’s ages was just 27 years and 145 days old.

A year later, Ito became the youngest singles champion on ITTF World Tour at 14 years and 152 days old.

Her fourth record wasn’t for age but for speed. Ito lays claim to playing the world’s fastest rally with 180 shots in exactly one minute. She beat Ai Fukuhara’s previous record by seven shots.

The latest edition of the Japanese version of The Guinness Book of World Records will be published on Thursday 7 September.
