There’s a lot going on in European Table Tennis at the moment. The Euro Champions League has pressed forward to the Finals and that has forced extra matches (and in some case extra rest) in the TTBL, the Euro 16 singles event pulled many of the top players from the TTBL, and after a WTT event in Dusseldorf there have now been several additional events drawing top players (Qiu and Jorgic and Franziska all played in Goa this weekend, for example).
Throughout all of this, Ochsenhausen has been steadily gaining momentum. They have now won 3 in a row, moved up to second position, and have likely secured their spot in the Final Four end of the year tournament. Both Dusseldorf and Saarbrucken lost their most recent match. For Dusseldorf, they fell to Muhlhausen (despite being highly favored, they fell 0-3 – with Timo boll losing to Steffen Mengel and Anton Kallberg falling to Irvin Bertrand). For Saarbrucken, they have now dropped their last two – losing to Grunwettersbach on Sunday and losing to Dusseldorf in last week’s match.
All three of these teams should be in good position (with 3 matches left) to make the Final Four. The battle for the fourth position is less certain – with Muhlhausen currently holding that fourth position – but with Bad Koenigshofen and Gruenwettersbach each within reach.
