International Stage: US National Teams Push Boundaries

With apologies to Ol ‘Blue Eyes, it was a very good year for United States table tennis fortunes in major international play in 2017.

Whatever table you watched, wherever you were in the globe and regardless of what level of play, age division or category you were watching, American players were serving up notice that they were becoming a legitimate table tennis power.

Starting at the top, in both adult and junior elite competition, USA hopes were on the rise.

“In the high performance section USATT had a really good and successful year in 2017 both in the adult and the junior category in terms of our current level in international comparison, “ USATT High Performance Director Jörg Bitzigeio wrote in an email to USATT officials.

Lily Zhang, Wu (Jennifer) Yue and Kanak Jha built on their appearances in the 2016 Rio Olympics, by bringing home impressive results and medals in major international play.
