Your Ask the Experts question was answered by Jörg Bitzigeio. He is the former High Performance Director of USATT. Coach Bitzigeio’s response is as follows:

Hi Orlando,

First of all thanks for your question!

As I can see, for the last couple of years you already enjoyed playing Butterfly equipment. Good choice!

The Butterfly Schlager OFF+ blade you currently use has been one of the fastest blades from Butterfly when it was released and it was designed for powerful loops and because of its stiffness for blocking. Combined with Butterfly Tenergy series it’s an ultimate weapon.

For your new blade and by being a two wing attacker I would recommend one of the new ZLC series, here for example the Harimoto Innerforce ZLC FL blade with a flared handle which appeals to a high range of players that play varying styles.

In regard to rubbers, I would combine it on forehand with a Tenergy 05 in 2.1mm and on backhand with a Dignics 05 in 2.1mm. The Tenergy 05 with its Spring Sponge is excellent for great spin on the ball and enables a full range of topspin play at or away from the table. In addition the Dignics 05 with the advanced version of the Spring Sponge called Spring Sponge X offers more elasticity and arc, at the same time a high spin performance close to the table and at mid distance.

This combination of equipment is very popular and used by the World’s top players, too.

I wish you a lot of fun and great success with your new Butterfly products.

Jörg
