Ask The Experts: Cherry Zhao No. 255 Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

I am 63, have been playing 3 years 3 or 4 times a week and play in 2 local teams. I am still average standard but improving and often attend training sessions. My style is aggressive using a good range of very spinny or fast serves and 3rd ball attacks. I am confident with my backhand and use banana and strawberry flicks and powerful drives and loops. My forehand drives and loops can be strong though under pressure can let me down. My forehand serve receive and return of short shots can be unreliable. I try to play close to the table and love to counterhit. I have used 2 sets of Rozena’s changing every 6 months. I am due to replace these soon to prepare for the winter league season in the UK. The Rozena’s give good spin and on the 301’s can hit very hard. However would you recommend other rubbers which may give better spin for my serves and may be me more confidence on my forehand. Thank you.

This Ask the Experts question was answered by Coach Cherry Zhao. She is a coach at California Table Tennis in Rosemead, CA. Coach Zhao’s response is as follows:

Hi Tony,

It sounds like you are satisfied with Rozena, so I would continue using Rozena .

If he would like to change to a new rubber, my suggestion would be to try Tenergy 05on your forehand.

Best wishes!
