Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Blade: Timo Boll ALC
Forehand Rubber: Tenergy 05 FX (2.1mm) Red
Backhand Rubber: Yasaka Rakza 7 (1.9mm) Black

Question: I am a Malaysia ex State player and who had came back to table tennis recently. My playing style is as below.

1. Both forehand and backhand loop from close to mid table
2. Backhand loop to receive ball and push, flip or block different angle.
3. Serve to combine forehand smash or loop from close/mid table for first 3ball.
4. Backhand loop can generate more spin than forehand (may be due to natural body my internal explosion power not able to generate a good spin or my forehand loop is not correct)

I had saw Adriana Diaz used Butterfly ZJK Super ZLC in her final US open 2016. I would like to give it a try but my worried part is the blade weight of 90g is seem too heavy if include both tenergy rubbers for me. I Hope you can give me some advice and which combination of rubbers is suitable to improve my playing style and to improve my forehand loop to generate more spin and power with this ZJK szlc blade.

Thank you and hope to hear from you soon.

Best Regards,
Bertrand

Answer: Hi Bertrand,

My recommendation for a paddle that is good for both control and speed would be Zhang Jike Super ZLC. If you find the paddle too heavy, ask for a lighter one when you purchase from Butterfly.

As for rubbers, you will find Tenergy 05 on both sides of the paddle excellent for what you want to achieve in table tennis. I recommend you concentrate on the control first and then on the speed for a better result.

Good Luck!
