Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Blade: Stiga CR Master
Forehand Rubber: Dianchi (Chinese Tacky Rubber)
Backhand Rubber: Sriver

Question: Hi Coach Feth,

I have been playing table tennis for 3 years and I am looking to upgrade from my current paddle. What I have currently was my first custom set up and I believe my skill has improved to justify a new paddle.

I am primarily a 2-winged looper and play mid-distance from the table with a little bit more punch on my backhand and more topspin creation and speed on my forehand.

Regarding blades, I would like something with more speed and spin generation with a decent amount of control.

Regarding rubbers, I would like more information on the Tenergy series and what would best suit my playing style. Also, it would be nice if I could have a reasonable estimate of when a person is ready to manage Tenergy rubbers.

Thank you in advance for your advice and insight.

Answer: Hi Neel,

Thanks for your question and for your interest in Butterfly equipment.

I recommend for you to try the Hadraw VK blade paired with Tenergy 64 on forehand and backhand. The 5 ply all wood Hadraw VK blade is the ideal blade for mid distance and fits the medium soft feel of the Tenergy 64 rubbers.

The Tenergy 64 rubbers are easy to generate spin with while providing good control so that should help you in changing to the Tenergy series.

I typically recommend players to use Tenergy rubbers once they have mastered the basic techniques as it is much easier to play with and produces higher quality shots.

Best,
Stefan Feth
