2017 is the year of the trick shot

Table tennis in 2017 has brought the goods and has been the year of the trick shot.

Timo Boll has been flat out impressing the fans who have been spoiled for choice when it comes to smashing shots.

There have been times where the table tennis defied the laws physics, while it seems the behind the back forehand should now be a staple in coaching manuals.

But the most important lesson we learnt in 2017 is that when faced with a barrage of bullets, remember to keep calm and Koki Niwa.
