WAB FEATURED CLUB: The TopSpin Table Tennis Center

Since opening its doors in 2007, the TopSpin has been an elite table tennis center. While the sport has continued to grow in the Bay area, the TopSpin has also needed to adjust, including a move to a new facility.
As owner Kevin Korb said in a recent interview with the Silicon Valley Voice, “Ping pong is on the up and up in the US and its definitely growing. In the last few years we’ve seen players from the US make waves on the international level and a lot of the reason for that is because of the training centers”. The TopSpin remains on the forward edge of that wave – even being named one of ten USA Table Tennis National Centers of Excellence.
With its location in Santa Clara, the TopSpin Table Tennis Center is in the middle of one of the largest communities of table tennis players in North America. The center is just North of San Jose within easy reach of much of the Bay Area including San Francisco, Palo Alto, San Jose, Milpitas, Fremont, and Oakland. The 13,000 square foot facility features 12 tables, rubberized flooring, 20 foot ceilings, party rooms, and a robot practice room. The space is designed to be an ideal facility for training or competition.
The club is designed to provide options for all types of players. There are drop-in hours, scheduled lessons, group lesson options, and tournaments. The goal is for everyone who comes to the club to have fun. There are three formats of coaching at The TopSpin: Group sessions that meet at scheduled lesson times, and private and semi-private classes that are scheduled individually. Currently, there is a weekly adult group lesson on Thursday evening, and youth group lessons on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
The center also has a stocked pro shop with a wide selection of high-quality Butterfly equipment.
