WAB Featured Club: NYITTC

(by Steve Hopkins)

The New York International Table Tennis Center (NYITTC) is a table tennis training center in the Flushing neighborhood of the Borough of Queens in New York City.

The club is a 5000 square foot facility with a wooden floor and eight Butterfly tables.  They also have a lounge, changing rooms, lockers, and an indoor parking garage.  The center is just minutes from highways, subways, and bus stations – easily accessible to the most densely populated area of the United States.

In 2019, NYITTC is featuring monthly sanctioned tournaments.  These 2-star events offer a unique prize structure with first and second place in the 2450 and 2250 events earning 35% and 15% (respectively) of the event’s entry funds.

Perhaps the best-known asset of NYITTC is head coach Yuxiang Li.  Coach Li has been a national level licensed coach in both Germany and the USA.  As a coach, he has worked with elite international players including Ryu Seungmin, Vladimir Samsonov, Michael maze, and Koji Matsushita as well as elite American players like the Alguetti brothers.  As a player, he won singles, doubles, and team championships in China and was a member of the Chinese National Team in the 1970s, and in more recent years he has won age events in the US including multiple National Championships in Men’s Over 60 Singles and Doubles.  Even today, over the age of 60, Coach Li is an elite player with a rating over 2400 – and he recently won the U2500 event at Westchester’s February Open.

At NYITTC, Coach Li’s 30 years of coaching experience are on display as he helps to draw and advise some of the best players in the country.  NYITTC offers leagues, group classes, and individual training.  A great combination of environment and expertise.
