WAB CLUB FEATURE: Fremont Table Tennis Academy

Posted on

(by Steve Hopkins)

From their locations in Fremont and San Ramon on the Southeastern side of San Francisco Bay, the Fremont Table Tennis Academy (FTTA) is easily accessible to San Jose as well as the other major cities that surround the Bay.  The main Fremont location is located on Warm Springs Blvd., sandwiched between the 680 and 880.  The San Ramon branch is just off of the 680 a little further inland, between Pleasanton and Walnut Creek.

Regular tournaments, open play, and coaching options are all features of FTTA.  The club locations provide plenty of hours (morning, afternoon, and evening).  The Fremont location is open 6 days each week, and the San Ramon location is open on Wednesday morning and all day on Saturday.  Group and private table-tennis lessons are available for all levels and ages.  All levels are welcome.

Shashin Shodhan leads the coaching at FTTA. He is a National Level Coach through USATT’s certification process and is a Level 3 Coach through the International Table Tennis Federation. He has represented the US at the North American Olympic Trials, and has trained and competed internationally in China, Sweden, and Germany.  As a junior, he was a member of the US Junior National Team, winning a variety of titles and accolades along the way.

The club has reopened and has posted a COVID Statement on their website outlining the steps that they have taken to protect their players.  Weekend coaching has been back in full swing since November 22.
