USATT Announces “Top 15 Clubs”

Posted on

(by Steve Hopkins)

Last week, USATT released a list of 2022 Top 15 Clubs.  USATT described the criteria for their 2022 Club Awards as being based upon hard work and dedication to the sport of table tennis – and noted their desire to recognize the organization’s leading contributors who promote the sport of table tennis in the United States throughout the year.

The club ranking appears to correspond strongly to the number of tournament events, the “star level” of those events, and the prize money of those events.  As shown in the graphic below, Westchester Table Tennis Club in Westchester, New York led the way in each of these categories – offering a total of $72,000 in prize money over 12 4-star events.

Of the list, WE ARE BUTTERFLY clubs account 10 of the Top Clubs.  Triangle Badminton and Table Tennis, Princeton Pong, Broward TTC, LATTA, Table Tennis America, San Antonio, Houston International TTA, Orange County TTA, Spin & Smash TTC, and Austin Table Tennis.  Prize money in the sport is growing, and all of the organizations on this list deserve the recognition.  Just adding the numbers together, the clubs on this Top 15 list have accounted for bringing $419,426 dollars of prize money into the sport – and the WAB Clubs on this list alone have accounted for half of that total.
