The 2021 National Team Trials were held this week in Fort Worth, Texas.  The top four positions were as follows:

Men: Sharon Alguetti, Nikhil Kumar, Jishan Liang, Dan Liu

Women: Amy Wang, Sarah Jalli, Huijing Wang, Tiffany Ke

On the Men’s side, only Sharon Alguetti made it through the group stage undefeated (5-0).  He went on through the knock-out rounds and ultimately played this week with perfect 10-0 record.  Nikhil Kumar finished second (he finished the Trials 8-2).  Alguetti will be a US Team Member for the World Championships (the Olympic Team roster was decided in 2020).

Amy Wang finished second in her group with a 4-1 record, but made the most of the cross-overs. 15 year old Sarah Jalli showed America’s best that she’s ready to make the jump to the elite adult ranks.  Amy and Sarah finished first and second, and Huijing Wang and Tiffany Ke finished third and fourth.

Below is an interview with Sharon and his brothers from March.
