Greensboro Coliseum Complex To Host Trials February 4-7, 2016

October 6, 2015 (Colorado Springs, CO) – USA Table Tennis (USATT) announced today that the Greensboro Coliseum Complex in Greensboro, NC has been selected as the host site for the 2016 US Olympic Table Tennis Trials. The trials will take place from Thursday, February 4 through Sunday, February 7.

The Canton Civic Center (Canton, OH), in partnership with Visit Canton, was the other finalist in the bid process.

“We are very excited to be partnering with such an outstanding facility and a world-class organizing committee,” commented USATT CEO Gordon Kaye. “There were a number of very competitive bids and very compelling opportunities, including an outstanding bid from the team in Canton, OH. In the end, we felt that the bid from Greensboro gave our organization and our athletes the best opportunity to showcase our great sport to the widest audience possible.”

The Bid Committee for Greensboro is a collaborative partnership among the Greensboro Coliseum Complex; the Greensboro Convention & Visitors Bureau; the Greensboro Sports Commission; and the Triangle Sports Commission, a U.S. Olympic Committee Community Olympic Partner.

“We are delighted that the U.S. Olympic Trials – Table Tennis are returning to North Carolina in 2016,” said Hill Carrow, Chairman of the NC Bid Committee. “We, at the Triangle Sport Commission had a great experience hosting the 2012 Trials in Cary. To support USA Table Tennis’ vision of an expanded and enhanced Trials experience for the athletes, we are fortunate to partner with the sports leadership team in Greensboro to help take the U.S. Trials to a whole new level. We are excited to be a part of the Road to Rio and are looking forward to serving as the starting point for the success of our country’s Table Tennis athletes at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.”
