Tahl Leibovitz Named Banner Bearer for Team USA at the World Maccabiah Games

(by Steve Hopkins)

USA Table Tennis Player (and one of our top para-athletes), Tahl Leibovitz has been named Banner Bearer for Team USA at the 21st. World Maccabiah Games.  Five athletes have been given this honor this year: Tahl, Fred Cohen, Sherry Levin, Summer Bloom Runestad, and Deb Lichtenfeld.  Opening Ceremonies are scheduled for Thursday.  This is an honor for Tahl personally, but also helps to raise awareness about the sport of table tennis.

The Maccabiah Games is billed as the third largest sporting event in the world.  Israel hosts the games each year that some refer to as the “Jewish Olympics”.  There are 60 Maccabi Clubs around the world and they bring great athletes into Israel to compete.  The 2022 event will be the 21st Maccabiah Games.  There will be 38 sports and 4 para sports this year.

Lots of action in table tennis (and a host of other sports) available through the Maccabia Daily Live Coverage Link starting on July 14.
