Sung sisters play in main draw for Junior Girls Singles

Sung sisters play main draw Junior Girls Singles
Only Joanna and Rachel Sung from the US are in the tournament. They both are still eligible for cadet (under 15) but also play in the Junior events (U18). Rachel is seeded into the main draw in the Junior Girls Singles due to her #46 in Junior Girls world ranking. Joanna had to started from the preliminary groups.

– Rachel, lost a heart breaking 3-4 match in the round of 32.

– Joanna, upset the top seed in the preliminary round and finished 2nd in the group but still advanced to the main draw. Sung won her round of 64 match over Lara Opeka of Slovenia. In the round of 32, she won a cliffhanging match over 3rd seed Marharyta Baltushite of Belarus who is current world #20 junior girls. Alas, lost 2-4 in the round of 16. Great job, nonetheless.

Now the medal. The Junior Doubles is still going on. They will play against the 2nd seed, a pair of China, in the semifinal. Good luck to them. The video was taken in 2011 while the sisters were 7 years old. The result is no accident. Junior Teams, Cadet Teams, Cadet Singles, and Cadet Doubles will start tomorrow.
