Successful Closing Of year 2022 By: Patryk Zyworonek

(by: Patryk Zyworonek)

I could finally play again after the one month break. When I finally took my cast of it was hard to recover and I couldn’t get the feeling I used to have. Fortunately, after a week of training I had the feeling like before. Since I was ready to play I went back to Poland for all my tournaments and league matches. When I got to Poland I was getting ready physically for my first tournament which was the Polish Junior qualification tournament.

Where I played the 7th best junior in Poland in the group stage and unfortunately lost 14-12 in the 5th set. I was content because I still qualified from my group from second place and I was in the main draw where I lost to the number 1 ranked in the tournament. I took places 25-32. After this tournament I started playing the 2nd league in Poland.

My team ZKS Palmiarnia Zielona Gora III is at the top of the league and we qualified to the playoff stage for the first league. I rank first in the division with a balance of 18-0.  I was also able to compete in the Polish Cadet qualification tournament. In this tournament I took places 5-8. In the group stage I won all my matches. In the round of 32, I won 3:0.

The next day I played the top 16 where I came back from being down 2:0 and in the 5th set 6:1. Next after losing to the winner of the tournament I didn’t qualify to the semifinals. Overall, I was happy from my place but I knew I had to train harder. The Polish National Team invited me to two  WTT Contenders in Szombathely, Hungary and in Senec, Slovakia.

First, I played in Szombathely in the U-17 and U-15. In the U-17 category I advanced from second place from my group where 6th ranked player in the category and lost 13-11 in the 5th. After the group, I won my first match 3-1 in the round of 128 and lost in the round of 64. In the u-15 category, I advanced also from the second place in my group. In the main draw I won all my matches until I lost in the round of 16.

In Senec, I played the same categories in the U-17 I qualified from second place in the group and in the U-15 from the first place. In both events I lost in the round of 32. Still, I was happy with my performance and the result. The last tournament before the US Open was the second Junior Qualification.  Where I played a very good tournament and ended in 13th place. In December, I came back to the US to play US Open. This was an excellent closing to 2022. I came back with three medals, one gold and two bronze. In the U-13 I won the gold, winning the finals 4-2. I was also able to win the bronze in the U-17 category which I am very proud of. Also, I won the bronze in the mixed doubles U-15 category with Amoolya Menon. Now, I continue training and getting ready for the next upcoming tournaments.
