Good preparation, loosen the muscles and perhaps some aching joints before starting to play; that opportunity has been on offer from very first day of play at the 2016 World Veteran Championships in Alicante/Elche, located on the Costa Blanca.
It was no different on the morning of Friday May 27th, as play progressed in the splendid setting of the Institución Ferial Alicantina in Alicante/Elche; in a specially designated area Romania’s Iulia Necula and England’s Steve Rowe once again staged an Aerobic Table Tennis Session.
Great Sight
“It’s a great thing to see when you have a group of people from varying ages performing Aerobic Table Tennis together”, said Steve Rowe. “One thing they all share is the big smiling faces as they have fun keeping fit.”
Sessions have been held throughout the day in what is a splendid setting in the bright sunshine of the Costa Blanca; it is a question of standing in line and then wait for Iulia and Steve to set matters in motion.
Follow Example
Simply follow their example to the best of your ability, the pace at which you exercise is at your discretion.
“For me to see veteran table tennis players embracing Aerobic Table Tennis makes me so happy”, added Steve Rowe. “I am bursting with pride that the programme can give so much fun to people of all ages.”
Non Competitive
Fitness and fun but there is another factor that needs to be taken into consideration, the ethos of the World Veteran Championships.
The activity brings people together, it is non-competitive, the only person against whom you compete is yourself.
Camaraderie
In Alicante/Elche the overall feeling is one of camaraderie and even when playing, the measure is against yourself; win or lose, the important factor is that you took part and did you do yourself justice.
Are you pleased with your performance; that is a measure of Aerobic Table Tennis.
Sessions Continue
Sessions will continue throughout the championships and all players are welcome to attend on Saturday May 28th and Sunday May 29th, sessions will commence at 11:00am.
