2017 PanAm Champs Top Honors Adriana Diaz

An unbelievable battle of two fantastic players was put on show in Cartagena, Colombia in the final of the Women’s Singles Event at the 2017 ITTF Pan American Table Tennis Championships. The match would be between two powerhouses of Pan American table tennis – 2015 Pan American Games Champion Wu Yue (USA) and 2016 US Open Champion Adriana Diaz (Puerto Rico).

The draw had been full of interesting results with Crystal Wang impressing with a narrow 4-3 win over Brazil’s Gui Lin to advance into the semifinals. There she would be firmly stopped by Diaz as the Puerto Rican star headed for the final stage in 4 straight games.

Wu Yue had been sailing smoothly up to the semifinal stage where she came up against Bruna Takahashi. In the team final the two had fought it out and Takahashi had swiped away the win in the 5th game with a mindblowing performance, 11-1. This time it would be Wu who would take the win in the clutches of the 7th game she would win 12-10 and advance to the final.
