Pan Am Youth Championship: USA Wins 8 of 15 Events

The USA flexed its muscles this week at the ITTF Pan American Youth Championships (U15 & U19) tournament in Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic.  TeamUSA showed its potential by winning 8 of the 15 events.

Here is the list of US Champions:

  • U19 Girls’ Singles was won by Rachel Sung (in a 4-3 win over teammate Amy Wang)
  • U19 Girls’ Team Gold Medal was won by Rachel Sung, Amy Wang, Joanna Sung, and Angie Tan.
  • U15 Girls’ Singles was won by Sarah Jalli (a 3-1 win over teammate Emily Tan)
  • U15 Boys’ Doubles was won by Nandan Naresh and Daniel Tran
  • U15 Girls’ Doubles was won by Sarah Jalli and Sally Moyland
  • U15 Mixed Doubles was won by Daniel Tran and Sally Moyland (a 3-0 win over teammates Nandan Naresh and Sarah Jalli)
  • U15 Boys’ Teams was won by Nandan Naresh, Daniel Tran, Jensen Feng, and Darius Fahimi
  • U15 Girls Teams was won by Sally Moyland, Sarah Jalli, Emily Tan, and Faith Hu.

A few other high points include Joanna Sung and Rachel Sung finishing second in U19 Girls’ Doubles.  Also, Puerto Rico’s Angel Naranjo won U19 Boys’ Singles and Canada’s Edward Ly and Sophie Gauthier finished second in U19 Mixed Doubles
