NATIONAL TEAM TRIALS UPDATE: U15 BOYS AND GIRL EVENTS CONCLUDE, TRAN AND MOYLAND CONFIRM TOP SEED STATUS

Saturday June 25th, the National Team Trials started in Fort Worth, TX at the Texas Wesleyan University. First events being played were Boys U15 and Girls U15 both having a significant number of entries including the best players for these age brackets in the country. Preliminary groups took place Saturday with no major upsets being recorded in these phase in neither Boys or Girls side.

STAGE 2 of these brackets started Saturday, with both brackets having 16 players divided in two round robins. In this stage there were numerous upsets, most notably Michael Guo rated 2308 defeating Daryl Tsao rated 2516 as well as Amy Zhang rated 1964 defeating Emily Quan rated 2215. It was mostly the top seeds that advanced to Sunday’s Final Stage but nonetheless it’s worth mentioning Husen Saidov and Amy Zhang that had multiple upset wins to make it to Stage 3.

TRAN AND MOYLAND GO UNDEAFEATED TO CONFIRM TOP SEED STATUS

Daniel Tran and Bowmar Sports player Sally Moyland finish the event with a perfect record and make U.S. National Team. STAGE 3 concluded Sunday June 26th, Stage 3 concluded.

In the Boys Event the rankings were as follows:

5. Andrew Cao

6. Stanley Hsu

7. Hasan Saidov

8. Husen Saidov.

 

Girls Rankings:

1. Sally Moyland

2. Rachel Wang

3. Amy Zhang

4. Kayla Goodwin

5. Hannah Song

6. Daria Fahimi

7. Saisamhitha Kanchanapelly

8. Amber Liu.

Top 7 players of each of these brackets are guaranteed National Team while another spot is up for grab at the 2022 US Nationals.
