(by Steve Hopkins)

Wang Chuqin has held on to the top position, but there was some shuffling throughout the rest of the Top 10.  Truls Moregard is up three spots to World No. 2.  Lin Shidong has stayed in the third spot, and Hugo Calderano dropped two spots to No. 4.  After that, its Harimoto, Felix, Yun-Ju, Matsushima, Peng, and Woojin rounding out the Top 10.  The other Top 20 upward moves went to Anders Lind who gained two spots (up to No. 15), and Patrick Franziska who is up 6 spots to No. 17.  A few other changes of note include Lim Jonghoon of Korea who jumped 38 spots (to No. 38), and Vladimir Sidorenko who jumped 10 spots to No. 43.  USA’s Kanak Jha stayed inside the World Top 30 (at No. 28).

On the women’s side, the top five spots remain unchanged.  With Miwa Harimoto of Japan dropping two spots (to No. 8), six of the top seven spots are now Chinese with Yingsha, Manyu, and Xingtong filling 1-3, Zhu Yuling of Macao at No. 4, and then Chinese players Kuai, Yidi, and Chen Yi.  Harimoto, Hayata, and Ito round out the Top 10.  Adriana Diaz is the top player not from Asia or Europe at No. 19, Bruna Takahashi of Brazil is at No. 22, and Americans Amy Wang (No. 40) and Lily Zhang (No. 42) are the third and fourth highest players from this hemisphere.
