Miu Hirano writes history, wins Seamaster Women’s World Cup

Lin Yun Ju and Mima Ito Favorites in Finals in Zagreb

The Top Seed in Zagreb, Truls Moregard, fell Saturday to Patrick Franziska.  Franziska then fell to Lin Yun-Ju in the Semifinals.  Yun-Ju had defeated Liang Guodong, a Chinese qualifier, in their Quarterfinal match.  The other Chinese qualifier to make the Quarters is Xiang Peng.  Peng upset Tomokazu Harimoto in the Round of 16, topped Ricardo Walther in the Quarters, and then handled Chuang Chih-Yuan 4-1 in the Semifinals.

Xiang Peng and Lin Yun-Ju will play their Finals match on Sunday afternoon.

The Women’s Event had an early surprise with top seeded Hina Hayata falling to Miu Hirano, but the top remaining seeds each reached the Semifinals Miu Hirano against Xiaona Shan and Mima Ito versus Yan Han.  That is, each Semifinal was Germany versus Japan – and the result in both was the same as the Sunday Final will be between Miu Hirano and Mima Ito (Japan versus Japan).
