ITTF World Rankings: Movement in the Top 20

Posted on

(by Steve Hopkins)

On the heels of strong performances in the Europe Top 16, Darko Jorgic and Truls Moregard have both jumped into the Top 15 for the first time in the World Rankings.  Darko is now World No.12, and Truls is now World No. 14.

The Top 10 are all unchanged, with Fan Zhendong, Ma Long, Hugo Calderano, and Tomokazu Harimoto as the top four.  Ovtcharov remains Europe’s top player at No. 6, followed by Timo Boll at No. 8 (and Darko Jorgic and Truls Moregard).  USA’s Kanak Jha is World No. 30.

There is one notable move in the Women’s rankings – Ying Han has jumped up to No.14.  Just like Jorgic and Moregard, Ying’s move is based upon her performance at the Europe Top 16.  Her win moved her up 6 slots, and she is now the top ranked female player in Europe.

The top 13 slots in the Women’s rankings are unchanged with Sun Yingsha, Chen Meng, and Mima Ito in the top three spots.  Puerto Rico’s Adriana Diaz (No. 11) is the top player from outside of Asia.  USA’s Lily Zhang is No. 35.
