Butterfly-sponsored coach and player Geovanny Coello was crowned champion of the National Table Tennis Grand Prix – Adult Category, held in Cuenca from August 21 to 23.
His journey to the title was full of challenges and exciting matches. During the group stage, Geovanny suffered a 3–0 defeat against Joseph Vásquez, but he bounced back with an important victory over Miguel Montesdeoca, allowing him to continue his journey toward the final rounds.

In the main draw, he achieved outstanding victories:
- Round of 32: 3–0 victory over Ghers Kijner from Pichincha.
- Round of 16: 3–0 victory over Álvaro Maldonado from Azuay.
- Quarterfinals: 3–2 victory over Rodrigo Tapia in one of the most intense and closely contested matches of the tournament.
- Semifinals: 3–0 victory over Didier Holguín from Quevedo.
- Final: a 3–1 victory over Alan Cabrera from Azuay to claim the national title.
Final Standings – Adult Category
- Geovanny Coello – USFQ
- Alan Cabrera – Azuay
- Didier Holguín – Quevedo
- Joseph Vásquez – UPS
The matches were highly competitive, and every encounter required maximum concentration and tactical intelligence. With a strong desire to win, but above all by enjoying the great passion we feel for table tennis, Geovanny was able to perform at his best during the decisive moments.

For this competition, he used the Fan Zhendong ALC blade, together with Dignics 09C and Zyre 03 rubbers—a high-performance combination that allowed him to play an aggressive, precise, and high-quality game.
His preparation also continues every day at his own academy, using the Butterfly Amicus Prime, one of the most complete table tennis training robots. Its ability to program different types of spin, speed, placement, and sequences makes it an excellent tool for developing both technical and tactical skills.
“I am very grateful to Butterfly for their constant support and for believing in me both as a coach and as a player. I am also very proud to represent Swaythling Club Internacional and the Table Tennis Club of Universidad San Francisco de Quito. This victory motivates me to continue working, improving, and enjoying this great passion we have for table tennis.”
Congratulations to Geovanny Coello, National Grand Prix Champion in the Adult Category!
